As a result of the newly presented partnership with Braathens Regional Airways AB (BRA), SAS is pleased to announce that the airline is now able to strengthen its domestic operations with new destinations and increased frequencies on several key routes in Sweden. Starting in January 2025, SAS will launch new routes to Halmstad, Kalmar, and Sälen, significantly boosting connectivity across Sweden.

In a challenging domestic market, SAS is committed to delivering sustainable, long-term air connectivity within Sweden. The newly signed wet lease partnership with BRA reinforces efficient domestic air connectivity within Sweden. Under the terms of a wet lease agreement, BRA will operate several aircraft on behalf of SAS, providing capacity on key domestic routes in Sweden and allowing SAS to provide reliable and efficient domestic travel. This expansion and increased capacity offer passengers greater travel flexibility within the country and more convenient connections to international destinations from Arlanda. SAS will continue to play a crucial role in linking regional hubs with the capital and beyond, driving economic growth and regional development.

Building from Arlanda Airport, this partnership strengthens Swedish infrastructure, connecting local communities to the world and fostering greater global accessibility and opportunities”, says Anko van der Werff, President & CEO of SAS. “We’re thrilled to open new routes to Halmstad, Kalmar, and Sälen and look forward to continue closely collaborating with local airports and regional partners to ensure the success of these routes.”

These enhancements will benefit both business and leisure travelers, solidifying Arlanda’s position as a strong hub for domestic and international travel. The improved connectivity will not only boost tourism and support local businesses but will also stimulate Sweden’s economy by enabling smoother travel for both commercial and leisure purposes.
