Here are key excerpts from Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s email:
“We ended 2024 on a super high note with Gemini 2.0, Willow, Veo 2, and lots of innovation across Search, YouTube, Cloud, Android, Pixel, and more. The foundation to all of this is our technical and AI leadership, made possible by our full stack approach, and people were inspired by what we built,” wrote Pichai
Talking of New Year, Pichai said in the letter, “As we start the year, I have been reviewing demos for the products and features we’re rolling out in the next few months. The progress is amazing, and I’m confident we will keep the momentum going in 2025.”
The “next few months” time frame seems to line up with Google I/O, the company’s annual developers conference which is traditionally at the start of May.
Pichai’s note to Googlers also stresses upon the “urgency of this moment, how rapidly technology is evolving, and our opportunity to reimagine our products and processes for a new era.”
To conclude, Pichia wrote a message about how “thousands of Googlers are dealing with devastating wildfires across Southern California” and highlighted the company’s efforts to reach out to them. The company has implemented an employee matching program and Google.org will provide funding for relief and recovery efforts. Critical safety information is also being disseminated through Google Search, Maps and Waze.
